We took a trip to Soufriere Beach on Thursday. Expecting white sandy beaches, we were surprised when we found that the beaches were not what we were used to; it was covered by dark volcanic rocks. We went to an area called Scott’s Head, where the Caribbean ocean meets the Atlantic Ocean. The Caribbean side was calm, while the Atlantic was rough with strong currents.
We had the opportunity to go snorkeling and saw a wide variety of marine life including fish, corals, eels, and even a sea turtle! We spent the day exploring, hiking, and snorkeling and ended the day by watching the sunset.
The view from the top of the mountain was absolutely breathtaking. The images that we captured through the lenses of our cameras could not do the real images any justice. We were amazed by how crystal clear blue the water appeared to be and how green the mountainous vegetation was. We will definitely be taking another trip to Scott's Head before we leave Dominica.
