The Alpha Centre is a school that started about forty years ago and until this past November, was completely funded and supported by a local church. This school works mostly with mentally disabled children, usually from ages 5-18, but if they “graduate” at age 18 and can’t find work or need more help, they are welcome to stay. Today we had the opportunity to take a tour of the school and meet some of the kids!

Throughout the day they have classes; from academics to sports to woodshop, they are getting taught a handful of life skills. Classes include gardening, cooking, cleaning, woodshop, and sewing. We walked around, talking to the kids and see the amazing facility the Alpha Centre has created. They loved all of our gifts and enjoyed singing to us! The director welcomed us back anytime during our stay here and we hope we get the chance to go back soon.
